DESCRIPTION:This years Open Science Days have the theme:\n\n“Open Scienc
e in the Light of Geopolitical Polarization”\n\nThe current geopolitical
landscape is characterized by rising political and trade tensions as well
as heightened economic interest in scientific innovation. This polarizati
on has significant implications for the global scientific community\, part
icularly in the pursuit of Open Science. Could the naivety of science be e
xploited? Where is the line between scientific idealism and naivety?\nAs m
ajor global powers engage in systemic rivalries\, the conduct of science i
s increasingly influenced by national security concerns\, export controls\
, and sanctions that can restrict the free flow of ideas\, data\, and rese
archers across borders. Meanwhile\, global challenges such as pandemics\,
climate change\, and technology-based development require international sc
ientific collaboration and universal knowledge development. The normative
nature of the scientific ethos is increasingly in tension with political f
orces that demand that science be both vigilant and competitive.\n\nHow ca
n Open Science – with its emphasis on transparency\, collaboration\, eff
iciency and validity of scientific results – be sustained in the light o
 f these competing interests?\n\nDuring this year’s Open Science Days\, w
e will explore these tensions by discussing the interrelations of Open Sci
ence\, political interests\, and innovation. We will ask how research orga
nizations can reconcile Open Science policies with resilience and competit
iveness.\nAbout\n\nThe Open Science Days (OSD) are periodically organized
by the Max Planck Digital Library.\n\nIn the context of this conferences w
e deal with various aspects of a global movement towards a more open\, tra
nsparent and reproducible approach to science. Aside from invited expert t
alks\, participants get the opportunity to present their own ideas\, exper
iences\, initiatives or activities in a Lightning Talk session. It is an o
pen discussion platform around current Open Science developments.\n\nThe h
ybrid event is directed at researchers and specialists outside the Max Pla
nck Society as well as within. It is for anyone\, who is interested in an
interdisciplinary communication about Open Science.\n\nRead everything abo
